A natural-born leader and mold-breaking model for faith across generations, Ky'are Grant is an encouragement and exceptional example of healing and strength to all he encounters. The unmistakable passion and contagious love-for-life Ky'are possesses only adds to the inspiration he gives to others and the courageous testament of his faith, regardless of his life challenges.
Since the age of three, Ky’are has been beating the odds. A survivor of illness, learning disabilities, and social stigmatism, Ky'are fought to overcome adversity and quickly learned how to fight for and protect his destiny. In Spring 2017, Ky’are received a stage-four diagnosis of a life threatening kidney disease called "Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis," (or FSGS). This deadly disease attacked his kidneys' ability to function and eventually progressed to a stage-five diagnosis which forced him to undergo dialysis. With the only option of survival being a kidney transplant, miraculously, less than a year later, K'yare received his healing when he underwent transplant surgery, receiving his mother's healthy kidney.
Overcoming the odds against death, a passion awakened within Ky'are to educate and inform others on how faith, a good attitude, and the confidence to believe that what you know to be true will foster an undeniable hope to help you see, attain and walk in your miracle! "The key to overcoming the challenges of life," he attests, "is FAITH, ATTITUDE and TRUTH... and the end will justify it all!”
This revolutionary statement is Ky'are's secret weapon for how he remains steadfast in what he believes is God’s perfect plan for his life. Approaching adversity with truth, Ky'are knows that he can do all things through Christ that gives him strength - because failure is not an option.
Determined to build hope and legacy for others who need encouragement, Ky'are has begun penning his story of his "rebirth after being born" called, "The Youngest One in the Room." In addition to becoming a published author, Ky'are is the founder of Keys Kidney Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization with the purpose of providing kidney care through various facets such as charitable activities, advocacy, dietary and preventative education, mentorship, consultation, scholarships and pastoral care services. Our mission is to support anyone in need of resources and faith-tools to help them overcome their adversities.
